The Kourtaliotis Gorge is one of the most beautiful gorges of Crete. Ιt is 3 km long and is located about 10 km from Plakias. Through the gorge, passes the Kourtaliotis Potamos that crosses part of the gorge and flows into Lake Preveli. His last piece is also called Grand River (Megalos Potamos).

The vast rocky slopes of the gorge are full of openings and caves, nestling various unique species of birds and reptiles. In the middle of the route you will discover a small chapel, which is hidden in one of the caves of the gorge.

The Kourtaliotis Gorge is a wonderful gorge worth to visit and walk to the sea. You can cross it either by car up to one point or by walking to Preveli beach.
